Karma
Cats come around the kitchen door sometimes. I started feeding them a while back; predictably, this led to more cats coming around.

One feral kitten in particular has been coming around since she was maybe 2-3 months old. I made a project of socializing Ratface. Originally she was completely terrified of humans; now she will come into the house for brief periods and sit in my lap.

I was considering adopting her, after getting her tested for FIV/FeLV, spayed, wormed, etc.

A while back, [info]sysd sheltered a dog in the back yard for a month, who scared away all the cats. While the dog's been gone for a few weeks, most of the cats have not returned. Ratface is back, though...

Obviously pregnant. Way too young for it, too.

Not sure what to do now.

Try to rescue her anyway, I think. Maybe talk to a local shelter and explain the situation, see if they have a suggestion as to what to do with the kittens? But if you rescue her you can at least get her spayed after she gives birth, and even if you can't or don't keep her at least she wouldn't be out having more wild babies.

Spay her as soon as you can after the kitten arrival (and keep her indoors after giving birth). You can do some of the check-ups you planned on doing before adopting her, in spite of her being preggers. I support the shelter option for the kittens, unless you have friends that will take them. Kittens have a much better chance of getting adopted in shelters than grown up cats, and the shelter usually spays and neuters them when it's time.

OK, this post is just begging for some kind of karma/dogma pun, but I can't think of anything better than the tired old "my karma ran over my dogma".
